A CAERLEON man says he is worried about the state of Newport City Council, after he was told they didn't have the facilities to write him a letter.
Peter Hall, of Goldcroft Court, Caerleon, contacted Newport City Council by email a week ago, about some overhanging trees from his neighbour's garden that he fears will soon fall down.
Mr Hall said: "For about two and a half years they've not been maintained. The house and graden are abandoned. I can't cut them down, as they're too tall."
The council said they were unable to intervene and that Mr Hall would have to go to the landowner of the property, despite the proerty being abandoned.
Mr Hall explained: "I said please can you send me a letter or email saying that you are not going to go anything about it, so when it does fall down, I won't be held responsible by my landlord."
He claims the council replied: "I'm sorry, but we don't have the facilities to write a letter."
Newport Council were contacted, but chose not to comment.
