A MOTORIST who caused the deaths of a driver and a motorcyclist in a Heads of the Valleys crash faces jail.

Luke Jones, 24, today admitted being responsible for the deaths of Peugeot driver Phillip Bath, 29, and biker Glyndwr John Evans, 49, on October 27 last year.

Jones, of Dan y Coed, Clydach, was driving a Skoda Fabia on the Gilwern to Brynmawr stretch of the A465 at the time of the accident at around 12.35pm.

Jones was due to be tried over the death crash next week but changed his pleas to guilty at Cardiff Crown Court today.

Judge David Williams said Jones would be given credit for his guilty pleas but warned him: "You now face a substantial prison sentence for the offences you committed."

Jones admitted two counts of death by dangerous driving when the charges were put to him again yesterday.

Defence barrister Caroline Rees represented Jones yesterday and Nicholas Gareth Jones spoke for the Crown Prosecution Service.

Jones appeared in the dock wearing a T-shirt and jogging trousers.

Judge Williams bailed him to October 17 so that pre-sentence reports can be produced.

Judge Williams ordered him not to contact Thomas Baynton and imposed a condition of residence.
