FORMER Wales footballer John Hartson paid a visit to Gwent yesterday.
Mr Hartson visited Bedwellty House in Tredegar to accept a cheque from former town mayor Andrew Cotton after he chose the John Hartson Foundation as the recipient charity for his Mayor's Appeal.
During his year in office, Cllr Cotton raised £5,435.57 through holding various fundraising events such as TredFest and "An Afternoon with John Hartson".
Clllr Andrew Cotton was Tredegar Town Mayor from May 2012 to April 2013. He said: “It was a really nice morning and John was very grateful for the cheque. The money raised is the culmination of a year of fundraising – we held loads of events including a golf day, a ball, and music festivals.
“It was a really good day and I gave John a tour of Bedwellty House and Park afterwards too.”
