MEMBERS of a Newport church are getting ready to celebrate the building’s 100th anniversary.
Supporters of Penylan Baptist Church moved into the building on Christchurch Road in 1914 - now, 100 years later, the building has received a Building Centenary grant.
The church hopes to spend this on events including a special service in September and social events in the coming year and any necessary upkeep of the building.
The church is holding a service this Sunday at 11am with refreshments served from 10am giving the opportunity to speak to the Lay Pastor John Spurrier-Davies and his wife Lorna about the history of the church and its contributions to the community.
