A NEWPORT ramraider who escaped with nothing heard he won’t be “going anywhere for a while” as he was led to the cells from court yesterday.
Michael Marsh, 25, of Clifton Place, Newport, pleaded guilty to burglary at Tesco Express stores in Rogerstone and Malpas Road with intent to steal. The attacks on the stores happened on September 17, the same day Marsh burgled a house in Thompson Avenue, taking items including a wallet, handbag, mobile phone and keys. Admitting three counts of burglary, he also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking of a Kia Picanto car which was used in the ramraid, and driving while disqualified.
Judge Rhys Rowlands said at Newport Crown Court: “He’s going to get full credit for his full early guilty plea but he’s not going anywhere for a while.” The judge added Marsh could face consecutive sentences when he returns to court from custody on October 17. Marsh targeted the stores in the early hours and CCTV footage from Rogerstone’s shows a small white car reversing into the front window. Fifteen minutes later, Marsh targeted the Malpas Road store.
