A MOTHER-OF-TWO who kissed an under-age teen was spared jail yesterday.

Louise Mitchell, 37, from Cross Keys, appeared before Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court charged with inciting a boy, aged between 13 and 15, to engage in sexual activity at a house.

Mitchell, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to the offence in August. District judge David Parsons was told that the only skin to skin contact between the defendant and the boy was a kiss on the cheek and there was no penetration. The mother-of-two was given a five-month custodial sentence, suspended for 12 months. A further one month sentence that will run concurrently was imposed for a further charge of failing to surrender at Abergavenny Magistrates’ Court, to which she pleaded guilty.

A curfew was imposed for eight weeks, which means Mitchell must be home between 8.30pm and 6am. She was fined a total of £165 and is on the child sex offender register for seven years.

At a hearing in August, the court heard how the victim was at the property at the end of last year, where Mitchell was also present.

The defendant consumed four or five cans of Strongbow, before other adults went upstairs to bed, leaving the defendant with the victim.

They began kissing on the sofa, before moving into a spooning position with the victim behind her and his arm wrapped around her waist, with him becoming sexually aroused. In police interview, Mitchell said that the pair were both wearing clothes and that she knew that she shouldn’t have been cwtching him because of his age. She described the kissing as pecks on the cheek and not passionate, and said she didn’t think of him in a sexual way. After being in the spooning position for about 30 minutes, they fell asleep.
