IT'S THE WEEKEND: How to make a funky bird box

You will need:

• Dremel Moto-Saw
• Fine Wood Cutting Saw Blade MS52
• 2 pieces of MDF board (42 cm x 30 cm x 12 mm)
• 2 pieces of MDF board (26 cm x 10 cm x 12 mm)
• 2 pieces of MDF board (20 cm x 10 cm x 12 mm)
• 2 pieces of MDF board (40 cm x 15 cm x 3 mm)
• Wood glue lHigh-strength adhesive
• Acrylic paint, paintbrush, paint roller, drill

Step 1:

Simple wooden board from the DIY store forms the basis of our DIY project.

Trace the pattern on to an A3 sheet of paper and cut it out.

Then copy the wing templates on to two 40 cm x 15 cm x 3 mm pieces of MDF board and transfer the other templates on to two 42 cm x 30 cm x 12 mm pieces of MDF board.

Step 2:

Using the Moto-Saw with a fine wood cutting saw blade MS52 you can cut the drawn parts roundly and accurately without any problems to the required dimensions.

Step 3:

Now glue the other four MDF sheets together with wood glue to form a box and leave it to dry.

Then use wood glue to stick the box between the two large bird shapes. Be sure to stick the box flush with the back edge of the bird shape.

Step 4:

Now for a few finishing touches: use acrylic paint to give your bird house a colourful coating of feathers or match it to the wall of your house.

When the paint is dry, stick the wings to the bird with a high-strength adhesive, making sure to stick the long cut edge flush with the back part of the bird shape.

Now hang up the bird house and enjoy the enthusiastic chirping of your feathered guests.
