A MAN has been arrested after allegedly exposing himself to young children walking home from Coed Eva Primary School on Friday.
Children took home letters to parents on Monday warning them to be “extra vigilant” for any sign of the man, later arrested by Gwent Police and released on bail.
The letter, from headteacher Mrs G Ellis and addressed to parents and carers, said:
“It has been brought to my attention that last Friday at 4.30pm a man exposed himself to two of our junior children by the tunnel leading to Neerings. The police were contacted and the man arrested but has since been released on bail.
Could you all please be extra vigilant particularly with children walking to and from school without an adult. Any suspicious sightings are to be reported to the police immediately."
A description of the person was given.
Coed Eva Primary School is just off Henllys Way, close to Neerings where the incident took place.
Gwent Police confirmed that a 35-year-old man from the Gloucester area was arrested at around 6.45pm on Friday.
A spokeswoman said: “We received a report at about 5.10pm on Friday 27 September that a man was seen by a child exposing himself in the Coed Eva area of Cwmbran.
A 35-year-old man from the Gloucester area has been arrested for exposure under the Sex Offences Act 2003 and has been bailed ending further enquiries.”
We contacted Coed Eva Primary School for a comment but were told no-one was available.
