Police appeal after sex attack in Newport
POLICE are appealing for a taxi driver to come forward after a serious sexual assault in Newport early on Sunday morning.
The driver picked up a man and woman in Newport City Centre, outside the Lamb pub on Bridge Street between 1.40am and 3am and took them to an address in Bishpool View, where the offence occurred.
The woman was white and was wearing a short black sleeveless dress. The man was white and around six feet tall.
A 44-year-old man from the Newport area has been arrested on suspicion of rape and has been released on police bail.
If anyone has information or if the taxi driver believes he may well have picked the couple up is asked to call 101 and quote log number 241 23/9/13.
