REAL time tracking of pupil performance data in the classroom will be allowed in Monmouthshire in an £87,000 system upgrade.
The council’s cabinet agreed to take the money out of reserves so teachers have the ability to identify priorities, set targets for individuals and groups and help to improve pupil outcomes.
The Schools Integrated Management System will be centralised at the Shared Resource Centre in Blaenavon.
The move means schools will not need to invest in their own local servers and so provide better data security and resilience.
Monmouthshire council’s cabinet member for children, young people and learning, Liz Hacket Pain, said: “I fully support this and can’t wait for it to start.”
Labour leader Cllr Dimitri Batrouni said it was a “no brainer.”
But Independent leader Simon Howarth expressed concern about the five schools not signed up to the SRS.
The report to cabinet members added: “Investment in this area reduces the risk of IT service failure and also allows us to take advantage of efficiencies and savings.”
Electronic services will reduce the need for paper systems and office space.
