PEOPLE have raised £1,800 for Gwent Wildlife Trust.
To celebrate the charity’s 50 years of work championing wildlife, managing more than 30 nature reserves across the county, five teams joined The Gwent Wildlife Trust Corporate £50 Challenge in June. Teams were given £50 as a kickstart and challenged to raise as much money as possible in 12 weeks.
Teams from the South Wales Argus, which is backing Gwent Wildlife Trust’s fundraising, SET Office Supplies, Ancre Hill Estates, Wilkinson and UH Peacheys took part, organising activities such as cake sales, raffles and sweet stalls.
Liesel Townley, fundraising officer at Gwent Wildlife, said: “We are thrilled that the Corporate £50 Challenge has been such a success and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved.”
Lady Lesley Pike of Wilkinson, who raised £1,000, said: “Team members from the service centre love to support local charities and took on this challeng to help ensure the wildlife of the area is there not only for us but for future generations.”
The charity aims to run the challenge again next year. To take part, contact Liesel Townley, by e-mailing ltownley@gwentwildlife.org or calling 01600 740600.
