A MAN who fell down an embankment and hurt his back was rescued by fire crews in Risca last night.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call from the ambulance service, reporting that an 18-year-old man was in difficulty on Fields Road, Ty Isaf, Risca, at 9.46pm.
He said he could not move and was rescued by crews from Risca, Malpas and Ebbw Vale who carried out a technical rescue.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 9.02pm on Monday to reports of a man who had fallen down a bank on Fields Road in Risca, Newport.
"We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, and an 18-year-old man with a back injury was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital."
