Is there life after The Voice? Aberdare raised Singer/songwriter Ragsy tells Andy Howells that there is.
Following his appearances on BBC televisions The Voice which saw him mentored by none other than Sir Tom Jones, Ragsy has not been sitting on his laurels, the Aberdare raised singer/songwriter has already begun work on his debut album scheduled for release early next year.
How would you describe your music style?
The music has an acoustic thread. Being influenced by rock and soul.
I have been writing and recording the songs, album and performing these live live with long time friend and musician Justin Beynon. He is the other half of Ragsy.
What’s been your best live experience?
There has been so many in the last year. Performing on BBC’s The Voice has to be one. As it has created the platform to hopefully become the recording artist I have always wanted and worked to be. It also give me the opportunity to meet and work with Sir Tom Jones. Which as a musician and a welsh man is an amazing experience.
Performing and headlining Aberdare Festival (Aberdare Park) at my hometown was a massive, emotional experience for me. The support was overwhelming and has a huge place in my heart.
Performing to 15,000 people at Ponty’s BIG weekend was a mind blowing experience which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Also being invited to perform live by Jamie Oliver for his Foodtube Show at his Fifteen Restaurant was another amazing experience. Such a nice down to earth caring fella. Very supportive.
There are so many experiences from the last year that mean so much to me. But these are just a few. I feel guilty that I cannot mention them all lol.
