BUSTER the Staffordshire bull terrier is looking for a loving new home after spending a long six months in rescue.

Staff at the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre are appealing for people to take in the two-year-old dog, who has been with them since June because his previous owner neglected him.

Rebecca Jeffery, the centre’s deputy manager, said: “In spite of his history, he is a dog that is very loving and loves to have cuddles and will want to spend lots of quality time with his new family.

“When there is a tasty treat involved he is impeccable.”

She said he requires an experienced owner to help him to socialise with other dogs.

And they advise only children over 11-years-old who are used to dogs spend time with him because he can be excitable. Rebecca said Buster would prefer to be in a home on his own, rather than kept with other animals.

She added: “He wants all the human cuddles to himself!”

The centre is currently caring for 26 dogs, 27 cats, 17 rabbits, two ferrets and two budgies. Most of them have been cruelly treated by their previous owners.

All animals at the Hartridge Farm Road centre have behavioural assessments five and 10 days after arrival. For more information about Buster, phone 0300 123 0744.
