A KIND hearted school boy has shaved off his curly locks for Children in Need.
Mitchell Parker, eight of Beaufort Hilly Primary School, Ebbw Vale, decided to go for the chop after seeing his mother do the same for charity a few years ago.
Year three pupil Mitchell managed to raise £1,017 from having his head shaved by head teacher Phillip Brookman on November 14.
Mitchell whose curly hair reached his shoulders, was sponsored by peers and teachers for each curl cut, raising £474, and raised £543 from sponsorship by family and friends.
Mum Sarah Parker, 41, of Ebbw Vale was “really proud” of her sons achievements.
The Neville Hall nurse, said: “I am shocked at how well he has done.
“He did it three years ago and then came up with the idea to do it for Children In Need three or four weeks before the date.
“He just wants to help children to have a better life.”
The mum of two admits being “nervous” before she watched the shave which was carried out in assembly and cheered on by pupils and teachers.
“It was awful but brilliant at the same time,” Mrs Parker added.
“He loved his curly hair so it was a complete shock.
“I shaved my head for Red Nose day a few years ago so I think that had something to do with giving him the idea.”
Mitchell, who sadly lost his father when he was four, was supported by businesses in Ebbw Vale and Brynmawr.
