THIS show had so much energy, fun, fast and furious action and fantastic singing and dancing that it was hard to believe the age of the performers.

The junior section of the Abergavenny Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society have always excelled in every show they have performed over the years, particularly since their award-winning production of Les Miserables in 2008 gave them such a boost of confidence. Their version of Grease must rate as one of their best opening nights ever.

It would be wrong to single out any one performer, this was such a brilliant team effort. Alex Williams played the role of Danny while his girlfriend Sandy was played by Molly Brickley Clark. Their performances were equally matched by Joe Pugh as Kenickie and Alys le Moignan as Rizzo, with Miles Harding (Doody), Louise Morgan (Frenchy), Jake Griffin (Sonny), Rachel Cozens (Marty), Luke Williams (Roger) and Nia Gandhi (Jan) completing a stunning cast of principals.

Highlights were Sandy, Danny and the whole cast singing Summer Nights, Kenickie and the T Birds in Greased Lightning and the Pink Ladies and T Birds in We Go Together. Miles Harding demonstrated why he was chosen to sing with Only Boys Aloud when he sang Those Magic Changes and as the angel in Beauty School Dropout. That scene, depicting a multitude of angels, was one of the most popular in the whole production. But it was the penultimate song You're The One That I Want that nearly brought down the rafters of the Victorian theatre.

A show not to be missed, with performances every night plus a matinee on Saturday.
