ONE of Wales’ top video game designers has joined the judging panel of a competition launched by Pontypool Museum.
Ian Thomas will be looking to reward three youngsters from the area who can design a game concept based around a particular period in Torfaen’s past.
The ‘Design a History Video Game’ competition wants entrants to paint or draw a scene from their imagined game, write a short description about how it fits in with Torfaen history, and send to Pontypool Museum by November 30 for judging.
Entries have to be submitted on the contest form which can be collected from Pontypool Museum or downloaded from the museum Facebook pages.
Pontypool Rotary Club has donated vouchers for the GAME Store in Cwmbran as prizes.
Ian Thomas, who is one of Wales’ top game designers, has also joined as a guest judge.
Sassy Hicks from Pontypool Museum said: “We want young people from across Torfaen to engage with their local history in new and fun ways.
“By designing an imaginary video game and then painting or drawing a scene from it, we hope that children and young adults will connect with history in a way they understand. We have some brilliant history here so we anticipate getting some great entries.”
