Young dancer students from across Gwent took part in The British Ballet Organization’s Careers Conference and Musical Theatre Workshop at Caerleon Town hall last Sunday.
Chief Executive Officer John Travis alongside Miss Liz Dale from the Council for Dance Education and Training held an informative discussion about the BBO and careers in dance and theatre.
Students also had the opportunity to attend two dance workshops lead by West End actor and dancer Gary Adam Watson who amongst his credits has featured in Hair, Les Miserables, Matilda, Finding Neverland and A Chorus Line.
Over two workshops held by Gary across the afternoon, students from the dance schools of Jackie Dovey (Caerleon) Sharon Fitzgerald (Newport), Angela Fryer (Chepstow) Debbie Chapman (Cardiff) and Clare King (Cardiff) learned repertoire from West End hits Matilda and A Chorus Line.
Parents were given the opportunity to see the students work at the end of the workshops which was also attended by The Mayor and Mayoress of Newport, Councillor Cliff Suller and his wife Christine.
