A BLAENAVON woman has added a third telegram from the Queen to her collection after celebrating her 103rd birthday.
Margaret Stokes, was born in the small community of Pwll Du in Blaenavon on November 25, 1910.
Yesterday, members of her family joined her at her birthday celebration at the Arthur Jenkins residential home in Blaenavon, where she has lived since April 2010.
In her younger years Mrs Stokes worked in the domestic service and was a home help.
She was also the secretary for the Blaenavon Salvation Army; it was here that she met her first husband, Percy Price, as he played the trombone in the group.
Mr Price was killed in action in North Africa in 1942. She remarried to William Stokes, who died in 1997.
She has three sons, Derek and Malcolm and Philip.
