A SACRED music choir is lending its support to an appeal to raise funds to repair the roof of a Raglan church.
Cantorion Sanctaidd will perform at a Christmas concert at St Cadoc’s Church at the weekend in aid of its ‘Raise the Roof’ appeal.
The sacred music choir is made up of members from across the Monmouth Diocese and will perform anthems by John Rutter and arrangements of favourite hymns such as ‘Blaenwern’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’, as well as Christmas music.
The Grade II-Listed Church needs £410,000 of urgent repairs to the roof, together with improvements such as installing a disabled toilet and kitchen.
The roof is losing stone tiles which smash as they fall to the ground, posing a danger to parishioners and those visiting the churchyard.
Reverend Joan Wakling, who together with three committee members launched the ‘Raise the Roof campaign’ last month, said the roof needs to be replaced within the next 18 months.
The concert starts at 7pm in St Cadoc’s Church, Raglan on November 30. Entry is free but donations are welcome.
