A NEWPORT man has been arrested in connection with a ram raid at a designer clothes shop in Cardiff city centre.

A large quantity of clothing and handbags were stolen from the Vivienne Westwood store on the Hayes at around 10.05pm on Saturday, November 9.

A red Mercedes vehicle believed to have been involved was recovered soon after and a 30-year-old man from Splott, Cardiff, was arrested. He remains on police bail.

Yesterday, a 23-year-old man from Maindee, Newport, was arrested by Gwent Police on suspicion of burglary and brought to Cardiff Bay police station for questioning where he remains in police custody.

During the arrest, clothing and accessories were found by officers and these have been seized for examination.
