TWO Newport youngsters have picked up a film award for a three-minute black-and-white heist movie, shot using an action sports camera.
It is the third award that brothers William, 15, and Alexander Langley, 12, of Langstone, have picked up in recent months, after they won Best Trailer at the Zoom Young Filmmakers Awards in February for their film "Suspense", and Best Edited film with their piece "Gingie’s Tale" at last year's Media 4 Schools competition.
This time round the duo took home the trophy for the best overall film at the Media 4 Schools competition, for their silent picture "The Cat in the Bar Con", recorded on a GoPro sports camera.
"It's quite a complicated plot," explained William, who edited the film on his laptop and plays two characters in the film.
"A con man walks into a bar with a cat and asks the barman to look after it. Then a con woman, played reluctantly by my brother, comes in and says she'll pay £500 for the cat, but the barman says no.
"Then the con man comes back and is sad because he has no money, so the barman offers to buy his cat for £100."
