PROLIFIC Newport charity fundraiser Sheila Gill is turning her house into a winter wonderland to raise money for charities this Christmas.
A seasonal light display will be turned on at her house on Stow Hill on Sunday, December 1 to raise funds for Casey’s Cause and the Full Circle Foundation.
There are thousands of lights in her garden and her conservatory is being turned into a grotto for children to visit.
It is the second year she has opened her house to the public for charities. Last Christmas she raised £630 to send disabled children to Lourdes in France but with longer opening hours this year, she hopes to raise £2,000.
Her house will be open for seven days a week from 4pm until 8pm and entrance is £1 per person. The display will finish on Sunday, December 22.
She said: “I don’t know why I do it but I love doing it.”
She has been raising funds for charity for 52 years and earlier this year she helped raise £500 for the armed forces charity Support Our Soldiers after reading of their fundraising efforts in the South Wales Argus.
And she also helped collect 3,000 items that were donated to the charity and will be sent to British troops stationed abroad.
Last year she also helped raise £2,000 for the Summerhill Nursing Home at The Irish Club in Newport, where she is the landlady.
