A DEFENDANT failed to show up to his scheduled bail hearing at Newport Crown Court on time today because he was locked in a toilet in Wilkinson.
Adam Smith, 21, of Monnow Way, Bettws, is charged with maliciously wounding Peter Robinson on August 25 this year.
Representing him, Gareth Williams explained the toilet handle had come off as the defendant was inside and a workman had to be called to release him.
Smith attended the court after he escaped the toilet and was bailed until a plea and case management hearing on January 24, 2013.
