A GROUP of adult learners lead a walk in Belle Vue Park this week in aid of charity.
The group who all have special needs and are employed by Belle Vue tea rooms walked to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Councillor Cliff Suller, The Mayor of Newport, also joined the Walk in the Park event on Sunday which included carol signing from the Seranata choir and Pillgwenlly Primary School choir.
Cllr Cliff Suller, Mayor of Newport said: "I am delighted to be supporting the Walk in the Park Candles and Carols for Macmillan Cancer Support on Sunday. During my year as Mayor I have chosen to support Macmillan Cancer Care in Newport because of its work in the city and the real difference they make to lives of Newport residents.
"I am extremely grateful to the group of adult learners with special needs who are employed by Belle Vue tea rooms who are giving up their time to walk around the park to raise money for the charity."
The were also memory trees placed in the park for people to write messages to loved ones suffering from cancer.
