ANDY HOWELLS recently chatted to Tony Thomas of classic Cwmbran punk outfit Impact about their new EP Punk Punk Christmas…
Who are you and how did you come together?
We are 4 piece punk band called Impact and are the nucleus of the original 1980’s Impact, Paul Thomas on lead vocals and myself Tony Thomas on lead/rhythm guitar and Ade Podmore on bass and Ernie Pipe on drums.
We have performed numerous gigs in our time, had a track “Storm Trooper Tactics” featured on a compilation EP by No Future records, made our own 3 track EP “Punk Christmas”, played locally and at the Top Rank in Cardiff in the early 1980’s with The Oppressed and Peter and the Test Tube Babies.
We have also played the 100 club in London with various punk bands like Abhor, The Varukers and DOA from Canada.
Where are you from?
We are originally from Cwmbran and the Pontypool area.
How would you describe your music style?
I would describe our style as punk with a bit of melody.
What’s been your best live experience?
Our best live experience would be Cardiff Top Rank and the 100 club London in the early 1980’s.
You have a new EP coming soon can you tell us more about that?
The new EP coming out soon features 3 new tracks, Punk Punk Christmas, For Queen & Country and Something Must Be Done, on Anti Society records there are also a mixture of old and other new tracks also being released.
The original Punk Christmas can be found on you tube under ( Impact Punk Christmas) along with our other new tracks Punk Punk Christmas, For Queen & Country and Something Must be Done found under (Impact Punk Punk Christmas New EP).
