THE RUGBY club building which a car crashed into on Saturday evening is repairable, engineers have said.
A spokesman for Caerphilly County Borough Council said engineers had assessed Crumlin RFC’s building on Kendon Road on Monday morning and will it not need to be demolished.
He said: “Generally speaking it is repairable and it does not need to be demolished. It's a problem in the corner of the property.”
Ron Shallish, the rugby club’s steward, said it was still waiting for their insurers to visit on Monday afternoon and were waiting to find out how much the damage would cost to repair.
Mr Shallish had the damage could have been “much worse” than it was.
The car crashed into the building at about 5.45pm on Saturday evening. About 70 people were still in the club, watching the England v France Six Nations match.
But the club had been much busier earlier in the afternoon, when more than 100 people were watching Wales play Italy.
