FLOOD alerts are in place for the Usk Estuary and the Wye Estuary in Monmouthshire this afternoon.
Less serious than the Flood Warnings issued earlier today for coastal and riverside areas of Gwent, a 'Flood Alert' means 'Flooding is possible. Be prepared'.
The Environment Agency website said high tide at Newport is expected to reach 7.3 metres at 9.50pm tonight with tomorrow morning's high tide at Newport expected to reach 7 metres at 10.15am.
This morning's high tide at Newport reached a level of 7.8 metres at 9.30am this morning.
This alert will remain in force until at least Tuesday morning's high tide.
