COLEG Gwent beauty students have used their skills to bring a touch of glamour to a Tredegar pantomime.
Beauty students at the college’s Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone Campus joined Tredegar Thespians’ backstage team at The Little Theatre in Tredegar to transform the cast of The Sleeping Beauty last month.
From January 21-25, the students worked hard to apply their talents to the principal cast.
They also worked on members of the chorus, the applying of make-up, wigs and costumes, before the four evening shows and matinée performance.
Chairman of Tredegar Thespians Lorna Griffiths said: “We were delighted to have students from Coleg Gwent applying make-up and wigs at our recent production of The Sleeping Beauty.”
“They were very professional as they applied the make-up and they had obviously done their research – the end result was quite stunning.
“We look forward to working with the students again and hope this can become an annual collaboration.”
Karen Moore, hair and beauty lecturer at Coleg Gwent’s Learning Zone, said: “Our students really enjoyed adding the final touches to bring these well-loved characters to life.
“Having only two hours before the curtains opened meant it was a great opportunity for them to experience working to deadlines under pressure, and we’re proud of them for putting their skills into practice.”
