Ahead of Alexander's debut Welsh gig at Cardiff Full Moon on February 20, Andy Howells chats to Jamie Clark from the band.
Following the release of Alexander's debut LP 'Say Hello' the Alt-Pop four-piece who have been together for just over a year have received regional, national press and online coverage of their critically acclaimed LP.
With regional TV and Radio exposure as well as playing sold out shows across the UK throughout 2013 'Alexander' have experienced a successful breakthrough year.
With the release of their previous single 'Say Hello' Alexander accumulated promising YouTube and online traffic for an unsigned band including their most recent single ‘Find My Way Out’ charting in the iTunes alternative singles chart during the week of its release. 'Say Hello' also received exposure on the likes of UK TV Drama 'Hollyoaks' and the music video being featured on Coldplay's website. 2013 has been a year of great exposure so far for this young, talented band.
Following a successful debut headline tour in September featuring a sold out Newcastle O2 Academy2 the band have announced details of a nationwide UK Tour which will take place in February 2014. Impressively
Who are you and how did you come together?
I'm Jamie Clark and I play guitar in a band called Alexander. We came together naturally over the years from strong friendship and sharing the same passion for music.
Where are you from?
We reside in a studio located in Durham, it’s our epicentre and home away from home.
How would you describe your music style?
It’s always so difficult to describe your own music style, i’d like to say ‘feel good’ indie.
What’s been your best live experience?
For me still my favourite live show was on our first tour playing the first hometown show. It never felt so right and true being on a stage. But for all of us there were wonderful highlights on our album headline tour in September.
What are you working on at the moment?
Right now we’re preparing for our next headline tour in February. Whilst doing a lot of rehearsals we're also writing and preparing for the year ahead.
Where can people hear your music?
We have several videos on YouTube, an LP on iTunes, which can also be streamed on Spotify and Soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/wearealexander
Where can we see you live?
Next month we’re heading to Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Norwich, Cardiff and London. The Cardiff show is at The Full Moon on the 20th and will be our first time playing Wales! We’re all very much looking forward to touring before we crack on writing for our next record.
