THE camel derby held at Chepstow Racecourse has raised £40,055 for charity.

The William Hill Camel Derby which took place last November was held in aid of Bristol based charity Paul’s Place which specialises in providing support for adults with physical disabilities. The organising committee comprising of Laura Day, Kath Graham and Roger Hart will be presenting the cheque to Kath Aldom, manager of Paul's Place at the charities Coalpit Heath base on February 18.

Laura Day, chairwoman of the Paul’s Place Raceday organising committee, said “We are delighted to be able to present this cheque to the team at Paul’s Place and would like to thank everyone once again for their magnificent support of the event which we hope will become an annual fixture in the Chepstow race programme.”

Representatives from Chepstow Racecourse will be joining the presentation where members of Paul's Place will be wearing some of the jockeys' silks worn on race day.

Kath Aldom, manager at Paul’s Place, said “We cannot thank the racing community enough, for their help in raising this fantastic sum. It will make a huge difference to everyone here at Paul’s Place and allow us to continue to provide the care and support we give all our members.”
