THE South Wales Argus ensured romance was very much alive for one lucky couple on Valentine’s Day.
Kevin Friend, of Monmouth, was the winner of our Valentine’s competition, winning a large bouquet of flowers, much to the delight of his wife Louise.
He said: “It was received very well yes, she was delighted obviously.”
We teamed up with Newport florist Lisa Langley, at Sweet William Florist, Chepstow Road, to offer the bouquet to one lucky reader who told us about their loved one and why they deserved the treat.
After winning, Mr Friend, who has been married to his wife for 20 years, was already confident in his romantic streak, but said the extra surprises were always welcome. He said: “I would like to think I’m reasonably in the good books most of the time anyway, but this was certainly appreciated.” The couple celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last year.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining the spark in a long-term relationship: “We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary last year so we have been together a long time, but it never stops.
