A MYSTERY collection of local poetry is inspiring Risca Community Comprehensive School pupils to produce their very own creative writing.
Published in 1953 by Starling Press to commemorate the Queen’s Coronation, ‘Risca Poetry – an Anthology of Local Verse’ is filled with poems written about the area by local people, including former teachers at the school.
Former student David Harris agreed to loan the mystery book to the school after his grandfather, Roy Screen, purchased the rare item at a charity sale.
Very little is known about the poetry collection, and the school are asking the local community to get in touch if they know more about the book.
