A BRYNMAWR house which is one of the cheapest on the UK market has sold for £15,500 at auction after being listed at £8,000.
The one up, one down terraced house, in Brynmawr was snapped up after keen interest at the Paul Fosh auction last Thursday.
The new owner of 3 King Street, Brynmawr, is Graham Porter, from Stratford Upon Avon. The sale and the bidding was all caught on camera by BBC’s Homes Under the Hammer.
Mr Porter, who was at the auction with his wife Lena, said: “I am going to turn this house into a little gem.”
Speaking immediately after the auction, he said: “I expect I will have to invest maybe £15-20,000 doing the place up, building an extension and bringing the toilet inside but after that it will be perfect. A nice little home.”
Mr Porter, who has bought two other properties in the vicinity in the past 12 months through Paul Fosh Auctions, says he will now submit plans to the council and seek quotes from builders for the work. In the meantime he will complete renovations on his two other recently acquired local properties.
Paul Fosh, managing director of Paul Fosh Auctions, Church Street, Newport, said: “The mid terrace property, number 3 King Street, which is in a popular location and is well placed for access to the arterial A465 Heads of the Valleys link road and the Brecon Beacons National Park, created a great deal of interest.
“The house, which already has UPVC double glazing, shouldn’t cost too much to bring it up to scratch as it is so compact. Internal renovation and the construction of a small extension should do the trick.”
The next Paul Fosh Auction, is on Thursday, March 27 starting at 5pm at The Park Inn Hotel, Circle Way East, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff.
