TODAY we are launching our search to find a deserving winner of a special award.
Newport City Council runs an awards scheme every year, rewarding people living or working in the city who have gone the extra mile.
Recipients of Extra mile Awards in the past have included those who have raised outstanding amounts of money for charity, others who have carried out acts of bravery or those who have achieved great things in a sporting or cultural field.
The awards evening is a really positive celebration of people whose actions often go unnoticed.
This year for the first time we are giving you, our readers, the chance to pick the winner of a new South Wales Argus award.
We have selected a shortlist of five people, who we think are deserving of recognition and we are asking for your help to choose the winner of the first South Wales Argus Readers’ Award.
Newport council is to be commended for carrying on with the Extra Mile Award scheme which highlights the often unsung heroes in our midst.
We are delighted to be able to feature people whose stories have appeared in the Argus over the past few months and who we think are worthy of recognition.
So please help us choose from our five worthy nominees in time for the Extra Mile Awards evening next month.
