IF YOU'RE looking to keep the kids entertained during half term then we have some suggestions to make the week a little easier. HAYLEY MILLS reports.

FROM arts and crafts to sports and even a pantomime, there's something for everyone to enjoy this half term.

Newport International Sports Village is running a holiday club from Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 5.30pm.

Day long activities provided for children aged five to 12-years-old including swimming, football, art and craft, cooking, face painting, treasure hunts, themed days and general free play.

Alternatively learn to make a felt mouse to take home at The Cwtch, Ffwrwm aracade, Caerleon.

Materials are provided and all ages are welcome.

The session runs between 12noon and 4pm on February 27. The cost is £1 per child.

You can also join in with a slightly different take on Welsh customs at the National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon.

They'll be testing your skill at leek tossing or getting you to enter a bara brith eating competition.

They will also be making Welsh cakes and creating felt sheep between 11am and 4pm on March 1.

If it's a show you fancy, the family-favourite Aladdin will be performed by Newport Pantomime Society at The Dolman Theatre between February 25 and March 1.

Fancy dress is optional and performances start at 7pm with a matinee performance at 2.15pm on the Saturday.

Tredegar House will also be keeping the little ones entertained with fun family activities.

Have a go at the spring trail challenge and stay creative with springtime crafts or make your own bird-box.

The events run daily during half term between 11am and 3pm. Call 01633 815880 for information.

Chepstow Museum will also be providing craft activities with a drop-in craft afternoon on February 27, from 2pm until 4pm, at the Drill Hall in Lower Church Street.

The event is suitable for children of all ages and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The session is free but donations are welcome.

There are also lots of things to see and do every day at Chepstow Museum - things to make, drawers to explore, costumes to try on and games to play.

When it comes to play time, Monmouthshire playschemes will be running between February 24 and 28.

Open access play sessions are available to those aged between five and 15-years-old and will be held at Abergavenny Youth and Community Centre from 10am until 12noon, sports pavilion at Monmouth Sports Ground from 2pm until 4pm, Thornwell pavilion from 10am until 12noon and Dewstow Primary School from 2pm until 4pm.

Inclusive sessions are available for young people aged 11 plus with a disability or developmental difficulty and will be held at Usk Platform Youth Centre, 35 Maryport Street, Usk, on February 25 from10am until 12noon and from 1pm until 3pm and on February 27 from 1pm until 3pm.

In Torfaen, you can visit the animals at Greenmeadow Farm in Cwmbran, with events running from February 22 until March 2.

From 11am until12.30pm, children can enjoy a cwtch with the smaller animals at cuddle corner.

A pre-bookable farm-themed craft sessions will run between 11am and 1pm.

At 11.30am, there will be a goat milking demonstration and you can hop aboard the tractor and trailer ride at 12noon.

Enjoy a pre-bookable handling activity at 12.30pm, where you can learn about eggs and chicks or help to spruce up the animals at 'Green and Groom' at 1pm.

'Cuddle Corner' will rerun at 1.30pm until 3.30pm, the tractor and trailer ride will run at 2pm and from 2pm until 3.30pm the craft session will rerun.

At 2.30pm, the handling session will rerun and the animals can be seen eating their tea at 3pm.

At Blackwood Miners' Institute on February 27, at 2.30pm, you can go and see 'Old MacDonald had a farm', but some of his animals have gone missing.

Can you help a friendly scientist and his amazing time machine get them back for him? This show is written especially for parents to enjoy with their children and told with live action, puppetry and animation.

Caerphilly council events team will once again be bringing the St David's Day Celebrations to Blackwood, Caerphilly and Risca with choirs, bands and dance groups.
