CHILDREN have helped the environment this half-term by building bird shelters at a 17th century tourist attraction.
Tredegar House, in Newport, kept children entertained with activities such as trail challenges, animal crafts and bird box-making.
Doors open for spring this Saturday at Tredegar House. Children can learn to assemble boxes, make paper snails, butterflies on sticks and daffodils, to coincide with St David’s Day. Adults will be kept busy with mansion tours.
In addition to exploring, visitors can hear stories of the flamboyant Morgan family.
Harriet O’Brien, events and marketing assistant, said: “There has been a lot to keep us busy over the winter months, making sure everything is ready for the new season. It’s going to be lovely to have the whole house open and full of life.”
From March 1 to November 2, the house, gardens, tea room and shop will open every day.
