FINAL preparations are under way for the opening of the latest edition to Newport’s Spytty Retail park – PizzaExpress.
The restaurant opens on March 6 and can seat 127, meaning 27 new jobs including seven pizzaiolos and 14 waiters and waitresses.
An estimated 1,280 kilos of dough will be used in the first month as the restaurant expects to serve 6,500 pizzas and 2,500 portions of dough balls.
The concept behind the new restaurant reflects the city’s industrial and mining roots, bringing in materials such as mixtures of metals, woods, glass and brick.
Costin Vasile, PizzaExpress Newport manger, said: “We have a friendly and enthusiastic team who are looking forward to welcoming everyone over a delicious pizza.
"Our new restaurant will be a great spot for everything from casual lunch to a special celebration."
Primary schools will be able to take advantage of PizzaExpress free school visits programme.
