VICTORIOUS Ashes cricketers Charlotte Edwards and Lydia Greenway paid a special visit to a Monmouth primary school yesterday.
The sportswomen spent the morning at Overmonnow Primary as part of their role as Chance to Shine Coaching Ambassadors to inspire the next generation of girls to play cricket.
Pupils in years three and four took part in a skill sessions with Ms Edwards, who is England women’s cricket captain, and Ms Greenway and were also provided with help from Monmouth Cricket Club and Cricket Wales.
Year five and six pupils took part in a question and answer session.
The school’s deputy head, Richard Davies, said: “The children really enjoyed it and thought it was absolutely fantastic.”
Ms Edwards said: “I hope the girls came away feeling inspired to go along to their local club and become part of a rapidly growing sport for girls.”
