POLICE have issued an appeal after a masked burglar threatened a Newport homeowner in the early hours of this morning.
The appeal for information follows a burglary on Caerleon Road, Newport in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred between 3am and 3.30am when a man attempted to enter a ground floor flat through an open window. The offender threatened the resident, a 29-year-old woman and then left. The victim was not injured although shaken.
The man is described as approximately 5’7’’ – 5’8’’ tall and of average build. He was wearing a navy blue hoody with the hood up which had writing across the chest area from left to right. The writing was lighter than the hoody - almost white in colour. He was wearing blue jeans and his face was completely covered in what is described as a dark coloured “morph” style mask. He was also wearing gloves. He had a local Newport accent.
If anyone has information they are asked to call 101 and quote log number 19 11/3/14. Police would like to remind residents to always lock windows and doors even when in the house.
