A BRITISH Heart Foundation Cymru appeal has been boosted by a defibrillator being bought to support a Newport business.
The Lloyds Banking Group, based in Duffryn, have bought a defibrillator to support the charity’s No Time to Wait appeal.
And its 1,800 members of staff will be able to use the life-saving equipment if a colleague has a heart attack at the site.
The No Time to Wait appeal is seeking to help train more people in life-saving support skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and to increase the number of defibrillators across Wales.
Richard Cueto, of Lloyds Banking Group, said the bank was prompted into buying a defibrillator when they learned in the South Wales Argus that two boys, Dylan Wilton-Jones and Benjamin Way, who attend Celtic Springs Nursery near their offices, both had heart surgery within weeks of being born.
Mr Ceuto said: “We have supported the British Heart Foundation Cymru in many events to raise funds for them and then made the decision to have this live saving equipment on site.”
Community Fundraising Manager for the British Heart Foundation, Catherine Campbell, said: “We were delighted to support Lloyds Banking Group. We would love to hear from more people locally who can come on board with us to really achieve more with this appeal.”
