A NEWPORT business has announced its support for this year’s Sport Relief.
Newport business UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UK SBS) is proud to announce its support for Sport Relief 2014.
On March 21, a Newport team of 90 colleagues from the non-profit organisation will volunteer to receive donation calls from people across the country during the broadcasting of Sport Relief TV.
The organisation, which provides shared business services to the public sector, will also be joining the fun and games themselves by running fundraising activities, such as the Great Bake Sale.
The volunteers will be helping Sport Relief to raise cash to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and throughout the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.
Last year, UK SBS took donation calls for Comic Relief to the value of over £51,000, taking over 1,500 calls throughout the evening.
Michele McIntosh, Business Support Manager at UK SBS in Newport, is part of the team that will be manning the Sport Relief phones until midnight on 21 March.
She said: “I helped man the phones for Comic Relief last year. The lines were hot and it was such a rewarding experience witnessing the money rolling in that I put myself forward for the Sport Relief call centre.
“There is a great atmosphere and sense of camaraderie amongst colleagues who would not normally work together.”
