RESIDENTS, community groups and schools are being encouraged to grab their litter pickers, spades and wheelbarrows and join Caerphilly council for the Big Spring Clean 2014.
Now in its third year, the Big Spring Clean campaign is about showcasing and celebrating the county borough’s scenery and natural beauty.
Last year, more than 49 tonnes of litter and fly-tipped waste was collected during the three month long initiative.
Throughout March, April and May, the council, in addition to its daily routine frontline maintenance and improvement works, is encouraging people to take pride in their local environment by getting involved in clean-up projects.
Many residents, schools and community groups took part last year – and the council wants even more people to get involved in this year’s Big Spring Clean.
Litter pickers and refuse sacks are available to anyone who takes part. Call 01443 873758 for details.
The council can also arrange for the litter to be collected after the clean ups.
