REGISTRATION is now open for this year’s annual Isca Duathlon, taking place on April 6, at the University of South Wales’ Caerleon campus.
Now in its 13th year, the event involves a 16.5km cycle race and 8km of running from the University’s Caerleon campus to Llangybi, near Usk and back again.
Over the years thousands of competitors have taken part and for the first time, winners of the Duathlon will qualify for the Welsh Triathlon National Championship.
Event organiser Ryan Statton said: “The competitors love the course, which includes a challenging run out of the university’s Caerleon campus, with a fast, flat cycle route, which together makes a really rewarding route.
“This helps attract athletes from many parts of the UK, from those doing a Duathlon for the first time through to competitive athletes.
“Then there are our marshals, who are fantastic, both the organisers and competitors really value the number and good-nature of these helpers. This helps to create a professional atmosphere.”
