A NEWPORT Gwent Dragons player will get in the spirit of Sport Relief this month as he officially starts the Sport Relief Mile.
Thomas Rhys Thomas will start Newport’s Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on March 23, and has said he feels ‘honoured’ to be chosen to support the cause.
"Sport Relief is such a great cause to raise money; for both the UK and abroad,” he said.
"On behalf of the Newport Gwent Dragons I would like to wish everyone good luck with raising as much money as they can.”
Starting from The Riverfront, lots of people have already signed up to run one, three, or six miles, but there’s still time to sign up.
Newport council cabinet member for sport and culture, cllr Debbie Wilcox said:“We are delighted that residents have already signed up but we want even more people in Newport to take part and make it the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile yet."
The Riverfront Theatre will open to spectators from 8am until 12pm offering refreshments and activities for youngsters including face painting.
