YOUNG people across Caerphilly have been working with Caerphilly County Borough Council to tackle classroom prejudice and discrimination.

Work has been carried out with the anti-racism charity Show Racism the Red Card to provide free anti-racism workshops for schools.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Caerphilly council’s cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, said: “There has been a lot written recently about school exclusions across Wales in relation to classroom prejudice.

“What has not been published is the amount of hard work that is being carried out to address and prevent these issues.”

Already 16 schools and 21 youth clubs across the county borough have taken advantage of the workshops.

A further nine schools will do so in the near future.
