A LOCAL artist specialising in painting boxing legends is hoping for a star billing himself to exhibit at Wembley Stadium.
Patrick Killian wants to showcase a piece painted in the run-up to a hotly anticipated rematch at the stadium between British fighters Carl Froch and George Groves on May 31. The 60,000 tickets for the fight were snapped up in just one hour.
Mr Killian’s interpretation was done by painting with a palette knife on canvas.
He said: “Inspired by the first fight, I thought I would capture the second on canvas, using images and stills.
“Paddy Fitzpatrick (George Groves’ trainer) and others have already shown approval.
“I have exhibited my work at Matchroom Promotion shows in the past and am hoping I can get to exhibit the piece at Wembley Stadium.”
Mr Killian will display the piece at an amateur show run by Paddy Fitzpatrick in Swindon on April 4.
