A MAN admitted criminal damage after pouring flour on his neighbour’s car in an apparent feud over parking, a court was told.

Imran Asad, 39, tipped the powder over Peter Elliot’s Mercedes in Clydach, near Abergavenny, allegedly causing thousands of pounds of damage to its paintwork, the court heard.

Prosecutor David Cooke, told Newport Magistrates’ Court the two men were neighbours and there seemed to have been a grudge over parking.

Asad, also known as Julian Tapping, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage on September 21 last year.

The flour became like “brittle cement” when it was removed allegedly causing £7,397 of damage to the car.

Asad, of Davies Street, Brynmawr, challenged the claim. His solicitor Robert Wade said a picture of the Mercedes taken barely a week later showed it was in “pristine condition”.

Judge Richard Williams adjourned the case for a hearing at Newport Magistrates’ Court on May 6 to resolve the dispute over the value of the damage and ascertain the correct basis for sentence.

Asad, who previously lived on the Main Road, Blackrock, Clydach, was bailed on condition he does not contact Mr Elliot.
