A NEW community cafe has been opened at Caldicot Leisure Centre.
The cafe has been funded by a grant which will cover the cost of cookery and food hygiene courses and will be tailored to suit the volunteers at the cafe.
The volunteers are all students and former students of the Monmouthshire adult and community education centre in Caldicot.
The cafe will offer volunteers invaluable experience in retail, the food industry and running and managing a small enterprise. They will have to budget, market the cafe and serve the public.
Chris Postle, from Monmouthshire adult and community education, said: “The self-confidence of the volunteers involved in this project has improved tremendously. I am immensely proud of the achievements to date of the students and tutors and enjoyed watching them blossom.”
Anyone who wants to get involved in the cafe should call 01291 426852 or email chrispostle@monmouthshire.gov.uk
