A terrible fatality occurred at Abertillery when an Aberbeeg man attempted to cross the track underneath some trucks to get to his work. The train moved off suddenly, crushing him in the process.
The licensee of the Falcon beer house in Newport was summoned at the borough police court for permitting drunkenness at his licensed premises.
Extraordinary behaviour was witnessed in the Canal Parade area of Newport when a man was seen to jump 12 feet from an upper floor window then run to the canal and throw himself in. He was successfully rescued and taken to the workhouse where he was detained...after having two old knives confiscated from his pockets.
Two Usk farmers were at variance in Usk court, over a hedge separating their properties. A claim for £10 damages to a fence and bank was being sought.
